Managed WordPress keeps 30 days' worth of backups for you automatically — there's nothing you need to do to enable them. For Pro Accounts, the Worker Plugin, which is needed for backups to run, is installed by default.

 Warning: Backups are only available for active Managed WordPress plans. If the plan is removed due to failed billing, you will need to restore your site from local backups or contact support for more options.

Create a manual backup

Although a backup is created daily, there are times when you need a manual backup, such as when you're troubleshooting an issue with a plugin, a PHP error, or you want to try a new theme. Here's how to create a manual backup in your Managed WordPress plan.

  1. Go to your Wurk product page 
  2. In the Managed WordPress section, select Manage All.
  3. Next to the site you want to back up, from the menu, select Overview.
  4. From the menu at the top, select Backups.
  5. Under Backup, select Backup Now.
  6. You can name your backup to make it easier to find later. The default name is User requested backup, overwrite this with your own title, and then select Save.

Depending on the size of your WordPress site, it could take a few minutes to generate the backup.

Restore my site

The 30 days' worth of backups for your WordPress site includes the files and database. You can choose to restore your files, your database, or both.

 Warning: All changes made after the selected backup date will be lost. For example, if you restore your database, items like sales records, posts, and comments written after the backup date you select will be erased.

  1. Go to your Wurk product page 
  2. In the Managed WordPress section, select Manage All.
  3. Next to the site you want to restore, select Overview from the menu.
  4. From the menu at the top, select Backups.
  5. From the calendar on the left, select the date of the backup you want to restore. If you have several backups created on that day, choose one you want to restore.
  6. Select Restore and choose a type of backup you want to restore by clearing or checking the checkbox next to it.

Files

You recently added, changed or updated themes/plugins.
You recently uploaded files via SFTP.
You edited themes/plugins using the WordPress editor.

Database

You changed some settings, and your site no longer works.
You need to clean up a large amount of recent spam.
Your username/password has changed without your knowledge.

Files & Database

Your site loads only a white screen.
Your site security has been compromised.
  1. Select Restore.

Depending on the size of your WordPress site, it could take a few minutes to finish the restore.
